An example bakery website on a phone

Sound familiar?

“We're sold out by eleven on a Saturday, and people still turn up at twelve.”

“Still here at ten: sourdough, rye, croissants” at the top of your site from the counter, and “all gone” when it is.

“We shut when the bread's gone, so the hours online are never quite right.”

“Closing at one today” by message, and your site is right before you've put the phone down. Send “back to normal” tomorrow.

“Flour's gone up again and the prices online are last year's.”

Send the new price, or a photo of the board. It's on your site as soon as you say yes.

“Everything we have is on Instagram.”

Keep posting the bread. Your hours, what's left and how to pre-order also live on a page of your own, where Google sends people.

“Christmas orders are a notebook by the till.”

“Mince pies and stollen to order, by the 15th” on your site with your number, changed by message when the date moves.

Change it from the counter

Send what's left, an early close, a new price, or a photo of this morning's bake. You see a preview first, then tap Publish.

  • Nothing goes live until you say yes
  • Change your mind? “Put it back” undoes it
  • A voice note with floury hands works too

Found on Google, and by AI assistants

People ask Google, and now ChatGPT and the rest, the same questions: open today, dog friendly, what's the menu. Your site answers them in the form each one reads.

  • The structured data Google reads on every page: hours, menu, prices, where to book
  • A sitemap and an llms.txt, the file AI assistants read, built from the same words
  • Change your hours by WhatsApp and the search engines get the change in the same publish
  • Your own domain name, with your town in the title

We cannot promise where you appear in a search. We can promise that what Google and the assistants read about you is right, and that it stays right.

Questions

Can I say what's left each morning?
Yes. Send a line from the counter and it sits at the top of your site until you change it. Send “all gone” and that shows instead.
Can people pre-order on the site?
Not yet. The site says what you bake, which days, and how to order, with your number beside it. People ring or come in, as they do now.
What about allergens?
Each item can carry its allergens, and the site says plainly that everything is made in one room. Change it by message when a recipe changes.
Can I change the hours when we close early?
Yes. Send “closing at one today” and the site shows it, on the day and in the hours table. Send “back to normal” when it is.
I already have a website and a domain name. Can I keep the domain?
Yes. Your site starts on a free townmember.com address during the trial. When your subscription starts we connect your own domain, usually within the hour, and you can then cancel your old hosting.
Will my email keep working?
Yes. We only point your website at us; your email stays where it is. If your email is run by the same company as your old website, check with them before you cancel.
