An example farm shop website on a phone

Sound familiar?

“People turn up when we're shut, because the hours online are wrong.”

“Open till 6 on Fridays now” or “Easter Sunday 10 to 2” by message, and your site is right before you've put the phone down.

“We tell people to check Facebook before they travel, because what's in changes every week.”

“First strawberries of the year are in” or “picked out for today” at the top of your site, from the shop, where Google sends people.

“Everything we have is on Facebook.”

Keep posting. What's in, your hours and which market you're at also live on a page of your own, where people who aren't on Facebook can find you.

“We're at a different market every day, and the weather can change it by the evening.”

This week's markets in the diary on your site. A message moves one, and past dates take themselves down.

“I haven't got time for a website.”

Type your shop's name and it's built in a minute. Change it by message. There is nothing to log in to, ever.

Change it from the shop

Send what's in, a change of hours, this week's markets, or a photo of the window. You see a preview first, then tap Publish.

  • Nothing goes live until you say yes
  • Change your mind? “Put it back” undoes it
  • Your staff can update it too

Found on Google, and by AI assistants

People ask Google, and now ChatGPT and the rest, the same questions: open today, dog friendly, what's the menu. Your site answers them in the form each one reads.

  • The structured data Google reads on every page: hours, menu, prices, where to book
  • A sitemap and an llms.txt, the file AI assistants read, built from the same words
  • Change your hours by WhatsApp and the search engines get the change in the same publish
  • Your own domain name, with your town in the title

We cannot promise where you appear in a search. We can promise that what Google and the assistants read about you is right, and that it stays right.

Your email stays where it is. If it's with the company that hosts your website now, check with them before you cancel.

Questions

Can I change what's in each week?
Yes. Send a line from the shop, or a photo of the board, and it sits at the top of your site until you change it. Mark something sold out and it says so until the next delivery.
Can people buy on the site?
Not yet. The site shows what you have and your prices, with your number for orders, click and collect or delivery. People ring or come in, as they do now.
Can I list which markets I'm at?
Yes. Send the market, the day and the time and it goes in the diary on your site. Move or cancel one by message; past dates take themselves down.
Can I change the hours for a bank holiday or the season?
Yes. Send “Easter Sunday 10 to 2” or “winter hours from November” and the site shows it, on the day and in the hours table. Send “back to normal” when it is.
I already have a website and a domain name. Can I keep the domain?
Yes. Your site starts on a free townmember.com address during the trial. When your subscription starts we connect your own domain, usually within the hour, and you can then cancel your old hosting.
Will my email keep working?
Yes. We only point your website at us; your email stays where it is. If your email is run by the same company as your old website, check with them before you cancel.
